“All I Need Is a Chance”

“All I Need Is a Chance” - The Mango Vision
I stood with Musab as he held out a bottle of mango lassi and asked for one thing: a chance.
He’s not from a startup background.
He didn’t have a pitch deck.
What he had was belief - raw, unfiltered belief - in what he’s created.
He’s been figuring it out as he goes. Selling where he can. Getting feedback. Improving.
He knows it’s good. He hears it every time someone takes a sip.
But now?
He’s not sure how to move forward.
He didn’t come with a plan.
He came with a product and the confidence that it deserves a place on shelves across the country.
What stood out?
He wasn’t asking for a handout.
He was asking for someone to believe in him long enough to help him get to the next level.
Takeaway:
Sometimes belief is more compelling than polish.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
But you do need the courage to ask for help.
Make people feel why it matters to you.
This week:
I am jumping on a call with Musab to help him build his first business plan.
We’ll share what happens.

As mentioned above, Musab showed up last week with nothing but a bottle of mango juice and a question: “Can someone help me figure out the next step?”
That moment stuck with me.
So this week, I’m re-opening up three 15-minute private calls for founders who are serious about moving forward.
These aren’t generic chats. They’re focused, strategic deep-dives.
Whether you’re scaling something fast, launching something new, or stuck at a turning point, this is for you!
To apply, send an email answering these prompts:
1. What are you building? (2–3 lines)
2. What are you stuck or uncertain about? (Be clear and specific)
3. What would a successful outcome from this call look like?
If this is your Musab moment, reach out.
Let’s make real progress - together.
Or email [email protected] directly.

From Dream to Dish
Usually in this section, I share the big moves in the market.
But this week, I want to share something better.
On Monday, I was at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant & Castle, where four early-stage founders launched their first-ever food stalls as part of From Dream to Dish, a program led by Simon Squibb.
Over the past month, they’ve been working hard behind the scenes.
Refining their menus, shaping their brands, figuring out pricing, and learning how to actually serve customers.
I watched them show up, step in, and bet on themselves in front of real people.
That’s a legacy move.

On this day in 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia - one month after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. A chain reaction of alliances and ultimatums turned a regional conflict into World War I.
Within days, Europe was ablaze.
Leaders on all sides misjudged the moment, thinking it would be a short, contained war. Instead, it claimed 16 million lives and reshaped the world.
Business can feel the same. Things spiral fast. You make calls with incomplete information.
Hindsight makes history look obvious; But in the moment, no one knows how the story ends.
The truth is: you shape the ending.
You can’t control others, but you can:
1) Judge how they might act
2) Take decisive action yourself
That’s called agency. It’s your greatest ally.
Especially when it feels like you don’t have any.
So, isn’t it time to take control of your business destiny?
